Future Creator Human Resource Scheme (J-Find)

A new scheme called J-Find has been just introduced in April 21, 2023 to attract highly educated foreign individuals to Japan. This new scheme is designed for those who have graduated from prestigious universities overseas and wish to engage in job hunting or entrepreneurial activities in Japan.

 

The Japanese version of this article: 未来創造人材制度(J-Find)

 

 

Residence status and duration

 

The J-Find scheme provides a “Specified Activities (future creators) ” residence status that allows for a maximum stay of up to two years and renewal is required either annually or every six months.

 

 

J-Find requirements

 

To be eligible for J-Find, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Graduated from a university ranked in the top 100 of at least two of the three major world university rankings, or have obtained a degree or professional degree from a graduate program of such a university.
    Check the  Eligible universities
  2.  Within five years of graduation.
  3. Have at least 200,000 yen in living expenses upon arrival.

 

Permitted activities

 

J-Find participants are allowed to engage in the following activities:

  1. Job hunting
  2. Preparing for entrepreneurship
  3. Engaging in employment to obtain funds necessary for the above activities

 

 

Dependents

 

 

J-Find participants can bring their spouse and children to Japan under the “Designated Activities” residence status.

The spouse and children must obtain a permission for other activities to work in Japan.

 

 

Required documents for application for COE (Certificate of Eligibility)

  • Application form
  • Document verifying that the applicant has graduated (or completed) a university or graduate school and obtained a bachelor’s degree or higher (university or graduate school graduation or completion) certificate or graduation (or completion) certificate
  • Resume/CV
  • Stay schedule in Japan
  • Document showing the current balance of the applicant’s bank account or savings account in their name (such as a copy of the bank book).

 

 

Required documents for family application

 

  • Application form
  • Documents verifying the relationship between the applicant and dependents (such as marriage certificates, birth certificates, etc.)
  • A copy of the sponsor’s (supporter’s) residence card or passport
