The Immigration Services Agency has issued the following notice for individuals who were unable to apply to the regional immigration bureaus within the originally designated period and procedures due to the Noto Peninsula earthquake.

1.Regarding the application submission period

For individuals who were unable to apply within their designated period of stay due to the significant earthquake on January 1, 2024, please consult your local immigration office for application guidance. Procedures will be handled on a case-by-case basis temporarily, even if the period of stay has expired.

2.Where to apply

Individuals who have temporarily relocated or evacuated from their original place of residence due to the earthquake can apply at the immigration office that has jurisdiction over their current place of stay.
